Then I saw your book. Needless to say, or maybe I should, I HAVE HAD NO ADDED SUGAR IN 9 DAYS, which if you knew my lifestyle, is amazing! In short, at 60 years old, I feel better than I did at 20! Thank you for going against all public information and touting the horrors of sugar!” – Lynn Bryan

Hi Nancy,I love your “I told you so” and also felt very vindicated when this aired – I watched it and was so happy that it is finally hitting “mainstream” media. You have been instrumental in this move to sway the view of sugar – so very, very critical to the state of health in our country, and globally, really!I commend your hard work and diligence in the face of being unpopular – and I celebrate this time with you – as the awareness is finally coming up to speed!!Kelly Genzlingerauthor – Sugar … Stop the Addictionand Super Nutrition for Babies
When I started studying why there is a world wide epidemic of obesity, heart disease, premature aging, and Alzheimer’s I was appalled that the commonality was SUGAR.
Since I quit eating SUGAR and started reading the labels for most American diets I have lost a couple of inches in my waist and my weight is plummeting.
Dr. Oz, the cardiologist, made me aware of how bad SUGAR is when he said that the lining of the blood vessels would be scarred by excess sugar in the bloodstream. That the irritation would lead to pulmonary diseases and that most of the American health problems would be solved if SUGAR were eliminated.
I’m glad to have found your website. I am passing this link to everyone I know.
I read Nancy’ Appleton’s book when it was titled Lick the Sugar Habit, probably during 2002. It was in the bargain basket at our local healthfood store and it caught my eye. I had already started to re-align my eating habits with regard to carbohydrates, but this added the final dimension that gave me sucess in living a healthy lifestyle. Since then I have successfully eliminated sugar, corn syrup, and processed foods from my life, totally accepting that sugar is a drug just powerful and damaging as heroine or alcohol or nicotine.
I had to start over once in the first year, when I weakened my resolve at a huge family Thanksgiving gathering. Just one piece of pie and my abstinence was destroyed. I can accurately say that I have been sugar-free for at least 8 years.
Nancy Appleton has written another book, The Curse of Louise Pasteur. She reveals several theories about germs that were proposed during that time. Her discussion of homeostasis describes exactly how the Creator built us: our bodies were created to self-adjust when the chemical makeup gets out of balance.
To those of you who still struggle and have not found a support group or method for keeping strong in eliminating sugar from your diet, may I suggest focused, daily prayer. I am a follower of Jesus and it has been with the help of the Holy Spirit that I overcome the desire for sugar. Mostly I feel nauseated when I smell sweet things, but not always –sometimes craving returns.
My blood pressure is well within the healthy limits for my body; my arthritis is kept to a very minimum; I am able to ward off lengthy illness, even when the flu sweeps through my department at work. I was born in 1950.
So, for those of you who are still struggling, I will pray that you find your own way to successfully overcome the poisonous, addicting killer: SUGAR. It is not easy in this American culture full of processed foods and sweet indulgences. But it can be YOUR CHOICE to pursue freedom from sugar.

I just read your letter and thought I would answer it because you said you were a Christian and I am too, I have osteoporosis and just lately my pain seems to be so much worse and I thought what foods are bad for me and what are not. I have always been interested in a more healthy way and believe prayer can help so this is how I came across this website, I have sciatica too, and sometimes it all seems too much, but Jesus always helps. I was glad to read your testimoney it always helps to have a positive response to something we try, and I will have to pray a lot too because I love sugary stuff.
Anyway thankyou and I would be pleased to have encouragement from you I was born in 1947
regards Pam
Thank you for your nice words. The doctor takes no position on faith other than to say that faith in anything positive is one way to get one in the right frame of mind for the proper nutrition to work. Keep up what you’re doing!

Dear Nancy in way of support for my wife, that has a sugar addiction, I decided to join her in dropping sugar from my diet, to help her out I bought your book Suicide by Sugar.
At first I only intended to not have sugar in front of her, but shortly I dropped all sugar. By the way I am 48 and overweight 6’2″ with a heavy bone structure, when I first went off sugar I was 293lbs.
At the time I quit sugar about a month ago, I in no way considered that I had a problem with sugar. For the most part I never had hard candy like my wife, I hated it, about four years back I had dropped sugar from my two to five cups of coffee or tea a day. If I had any weakness to do with sugar, it was cookies and weekly ice cream, it was very seldom we did not have some type of cookie in the house, baked or store bought.
Since my wife and I have abandoned sugar one month ago, both our lives have changed for the better. My wife has lost about 7 pounds and her health has improved, her chronic acid reflux has abated, her Fibromyalgia has greatly lessened and her general feeling of energy and well being has improved also less pain and bloating during her period.
For myself I’ve lost about 13 pounds all the feeling of bloat in my midsection. For many years now I have not liked the oder of my sweat, that is gone, also my bowel movements have become better formed. One other thing, for about the last ten years I’ve had a red and greasy nose prone to pimples, that is gone as well, all after one month!!
I never would have thought sugar was doing anything to myself, my wife feels, if I had not bought her your book she may not have had the resolve to make it.
Certainly my life would not have changed for the better and I haven’t even read your book. lol
What can I say but thanks to you and please keep getting the message out there, your saving lives without even using a cold stethoscope.
